diglipur
the wild north nobody puts on the brochure.
Diglipur is as far north as tourism goes in the Andamans — a full day's journey from Port Blair, far fewer visitors, and landscapes that feel closer to Southeast Asia than mainland India. If you've already done Havelock and want the archipelago's second act, this is it.
Saddle Peak is the highest point in the Andamans at 732 metres — a rainforest trek through giant tree ferns and endemic birds, best attempted with a local guide and a early start. The view from the top on a clear day stretches across multiple islands and open ocean.
Ross and Smith Islands are the postcard: two islands connected by a sandbar that appears and disappears with the tide. Walk from one to the other barefoot, snorkel the channel, and have the whole scene almost to yourself. Kalipur Beach nearby is a turtle nesting site — Olive Ridley and leatherback come ashore between December and March.
